Rub-a-dub-dub...

The bathroom situation is out of control.

I sprayed and scrubbed the tile last night (even though sweet Maria who helps us clean our house 2X/month JUST came on Tuesday) and the grout in the left hand corner of the shower completely washed away.

Worst. Bathroom. EVER.

I know I already complained about this situation, but it's getting worse and worse every day. And now that I'm "mit baby" to quote Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (which, in case you haven't seen it, is hilarious), I probably shouldn't be scrubbing away in a bathroom without ventilation, regardless of how green the Mrs. Meyers product I'm using is.

Because I'm totally an Earth Mother now. Obviously. And not just because I prefer the smell of lemon verbena to toxic chemicals.

But I'm a little sensitive about the label that pregnant women get in regards to being over-emotional, so I decided not to throw a temper tantrum and instead headed to the computer to figure out how in the heck we were going to afford overhauling the whole stinkin' mess.

And I came up with a new idea!!

While searching the Wisteria.com website, I found this console table:

I'm not wild about the black, but if I repainted it, I wonder if I could (well not me, but someone more talented working with me) install a rectangular vessel sink on it or if that would be a little much.

What do y'all think?

The rest of my wish list resides primarily at good ol' Restoration Hardware...and outside of my price range. REALLY missing that RH Outlet in Virginia these days!!

Can't. Stop. Watching.

Anyone else completely and totally obsessed with the Winter Olympics?

Quick aside:  this is probably the first and last time that sports will ever be discussed on this blog. You may have gathered by now that I'm not the sportiest.

But I LOVE the Winter Games. There's just something about it that I can't get away from. I've even gone so far as to tivo all daytime broadcasts so that I can watch them in between commercial breaks on the prime time airing.

So I decided to look up the Athlete's Village, since you always hear so much about it and I'm nosy. Headed over to HGTV Canada, and here's what I found:

Um. Hmm.

Hopefully their medals will cheer things up a bit?

Let's move on to something more exciting than black leather sofas and black bedspreads.

Like the half pipe. Best. Olympic. Event. Ever.

And speaking of the half pipe...

I have a total crush. From the sound of the screeching in the crowd at the Oprah show, I'm not the only one. Allen thinks it's bizarre, but I'm REALLY hoping that if our baby is a boy, that he has that laid back  personality.

There's only one part of the Olympics that I can't handle...men's figure skating. While I completely appreciate the incredible talent and athleticism that the skaters have, and while I'm SO glad that the US took gold, I can't get past the costumes. To be honest, I think they are distracting!! Not sure that many sequins and things like glittery snakes are necessary.

But that's just my opinion!

Changes at Simply Perfect Home

Hi Blogfriends! Exciting news over here!

I recently landed my very first design client, which is why I've been so MIA. It's a limited budget, so we're gettin' crafty.

A few sneak peeks into what we've got going on:

Hable Construction bird fabric for roman shades, a bed skirt and some accent pillows...I love this!!

Another peek...

Refurbishing a family chandelier...fresh paint, a little wipe on Poly and we'll be in business!

Horrible pic, but a fresh coat of paint and nickled hardware will sweeten this vintage dresser right up!

I was a little worried about my ability to choose things for someone else, but so far, so good. The client has been easy to work with and really has just gone along with all of my selections!

But then again, what's the lil' bean going to do? I'm sort of holding him/her captive for the next 6 months.

BTW: apologies for the blurry photo. It's a combination of my shaky hands and the fact that the sonogram technician had a difficult time getting a clear pic of our babe because he/she was VERY excited about the paparazzi and wouldn't sit still for a second. Which leads us to the following conclusion: this is his/her Daddy's child.

Finally, a caveat...if our lil' bit turns out to be a lil' boy, I will be male-ing up the room a tad, no worries.  Just haven't figured out how yet. I'm not so great at the boy stuff. :)

Newsbreak.

Get yo' fingers crossed, blogfriends!

We had a contractor come to the house today to give us an estimate on the master bath AND the install of a tank less hot water heater!! Additional closet space, you are thisclose to being mine!!

Now, if he'll only come in somewhere between what Allen thinks it should cost and what I think it should cost (any guesses on who's a little more lenient in the budget department, asks the girl who specifically is requesting frameless glass in the shower?), we'll be in business!!

And I'll be picking tile for real, rather than just day dreaming about one inch hexagonals.

Gah, I'm a nerd.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

But I would (hand) write more if I was writing on this...

Dempsey & Carroll and Schumacher have partnered to create this ridiculously fabulous line of note cards.  At $60 for a set of 10 cards, it's pricy...but you all know how I feel about Schumacher.

Quick aside...my Chaing Mai chairs will be ready any day now! Hip hip hooray!!

Thanks, Jenny, for sending my way. :)
